Woong-jo Choi is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact on the world of music. Born on December 12, 1985, in Seoul, South Korea, Choi showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Choi's musical education began at the Yewon School, a prestigious music school in Seoul, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Hyeon-Sook Lee. He then went on to study at the Seoul Arts High School, where he was mentored by Professor Dae-Jin Kim. Choi's exceptional talent and dedication to music earned him a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. At Juilliard, Choi studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher Yoheved Kaplinsky. He also had the opportunity to work with other distinguished musicians, including Emanuel Ax, Robert McDonald, and Jerome Lowenthal. In 2004, he won first prize at the Korea Music Foundation Competition, and in 2005, he won the grand prize at the Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition. In 2006, he won the first prize at the Corpus Christi International Competition, and in 2007, he won the first prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. Choi's success in these competitions helped him gain recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. He was invited to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Seoul Arts Center. He has also performed at the Aspen Music Festival, the Sarasota Music Festival, and the Music Academy of the West.
