She was born on December 16, 1958, in Montreal, Canada. From a young age, Margaret showed a keen interest in music and began playing the recorder at the age of six. She went on to study music at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, where she received her diploma in recorder performance. After completing her studies, Margaret began performing professionally and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. She became a member of the Ensemble Claude-Gervaise, a group that specialized in early music, and performed with them for several years. Margaret also performed with other early music ensembles, including Les Voix Humaines and La Nef. In addition to her work as a performer, Margaret also became a respected teacher and mentor. She taught at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal and the Université de Montréal, where she helped to train the next generation of musicians. Margaret's career reached new heights in 1990 when she founded the ensemble Constantinople with Kiya Tabassian.
