Role:EnsembleDialogos is a classical music ensemble that specializes in the performance of medieval and Renaissance music. The group was founded in 1997 by Katarina Livljanić, a Croatian-born musicologist and singer who has dedicated her career to the study and interpretation of early music. Livljanić was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1964. She began her musical training at an early age, studying piano and singing in a children's choir. She later studied musicology at the University of Zagreb, where she developed a deep interest in the music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. After completing her studies, Livljanić moved to Paris, where she continued her research and began performing as a soloist and ensemble singer. In 1997, she founded Dialogos, a group dedicated to the performance of early music using historically informed techniques and instruments. Dialogos quickly gained a reputation for its innovative and engaging performances, which combined Livljanić's scholarly expertise with her expressive and powerful singing. The group's repertoire includes music from the medieval and Renaissance periods, as well as traditional music from Croatia and other parts of the Balkans. Over the years, Dialogos has performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals and concert halls, including the Festival d'Avignon, the Salzburg Festival, and the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. The group has also released several critically acclaimed recordings, including "La Vision de Tondal" (2000), "Dalmatica: Chants from Medieval Croatia" (2005), and "Venice in the East: Renaissance Crete" (2017). One of Dialogos's most notable performances was its 2009 production of "The Play of Daniel," a medieval liturgical drama that tells the story of the prophet Daniel. The production, which was directed by Livljanić and featured a cast of singers and actors, was praised for its vivid and immersive staging, as well as its faithful interpretation of the music and text. In addition to its performances and recordings, Dialogos has also been recognized with several awards and honors. In 2003, the group received the prestigious Diapason d'Or award for its recording of "La Vision de Tondal." In 2014, Livljanić was awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of her contributions to the arts. Today, Dialogos continues to be a leading voice in the world of early music, with a commitment to exploring the rich and diverse musical traditions of the past. Through its performances, recordings, and scholarly research, the group has helped to bring the music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance to new audiences around the world.More....
