He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known conductor in the Czech Republic. Kovar showed an interest in music from a young age and began playing the piano at the age of five. Kovar's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began performing in public at the age of seven and was soon recognized as one of the most promising young musicians in the country. He continued to study music throughout his childhood and adolescence, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already won several prestigious awards for his performances. In 1983, Kovar was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the renowned pianist and teacher Ivan Moravec. He continued to excel in his studies and was soon performing in concerts throughout Europe. In 1987, he won first prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, Austria, which launched his career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, Kovar continued to perform in concerts and recitals throughout Europe and the United States. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and versatile pianists of his generation, and his performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. In 1991, Kovar made his debut with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a huge success, and Kovar was praised for his interpretation of the piece. He continued to perform with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra throughout the 1990s, and his performances were always highly anticipated. In 1995, Kovar was awarded the prestigious Artis Bohemiae Amicis medal by the Czech Ministry of Culture. The award recognized his contributions to the arts in the Czech Republic and his role in promoting Czech music around the world. Throughout his career, Kovar was known for his dedication to promoting the music of his homeland. He was a passionate advocate for Czech composers, and he often included their works in his performances.
