The University of Texas Concert Chorale is a classical music ensemble that has been a prominent fixture in the Austin, Texas music scene for over 50 years. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Morris Beachy, the ensemble has grown to become one of the most respected choral groups in the state of Texas. Dr. Morris Beachy, a renowned choral conductor and educator, founded the University of Texas Concert Chorale with the goal of creating a high-quality choral ensemble that would showcase the talents of the university's music students. Under his leadership, the ensemble quickly gained a reputation for excellence, and it has continued to thrive under the direction of subsequent conductors. Over the years, the University of Texas Concert Chorale has been comprised of a diverse group of talented singers, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in music. The ensemble's current members are drawn from the University of Texas at Austin's Butler School of Music, and they represent a wide range of musical backgrounds and interests. One of the highlights of the University of Texas Concert Chorale's history was its performance at the 1996 American Choral Directors Association National Convention in San Antonio, Texas. The ensemble was one of only six choirs selected to perform at the convention, and its performance was widely praised for its technical precision and emotional depth.
