He won his first competition at the age of eight, and he went on to win many more competitions throughout his childhood. Konrad's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. They enrolled him in the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied piano under some of the most renowned teachers in Austria. Konrad was a dedicated student, and he spent countless hours practicing and perfecting his craft. In 2003, Konrad graduated from the Vienna Conservatory with honors. He was immediately offered a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. Konrad accepted the scholarship and moved to New York to continue his studies. At Juilliard, Konrad studied under some of the most respected piano teachers in the world. He cited health reasons as the main factor in his decision, but he also expressed a desire to focus on teaching and mentoring young musicians. His retirement was a great loss to the classical music world, but his legacy lives on through his recordings and the many musicians he inspired and mentored over the years.
