Liszt recognized Vincenz's talent and took him under his wing, mentoring him in composition and piano performance. Vincenz also studied under other notable composers such as Anton Bruckner and Johann Strauss II. During his time in Vienna, Vincenz composed several works, including his first symphony, which was premiered in 1846. The symphony was well-received, and it established Vincenz as a promising young composer. He continued to compose symphonies, chamber music, and piano pieces, and his works were performed in Vienna and other European cities. In 1850, Vincenz returned to Croatia and settled in the city of Zagreb. He became the conductor of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the director of the Zagreb Music School. He also continued to compose, and his works were performed by the Zagreb Philharmonic and other orchestras in Croatia and Europe. One of Vincenz's most notable works is his opera, "Nikola Subic Zrinski," which he composed in 1876. The opera tells the story of the Croatian nobleman Nikola Subic Zrinski, who led a rebellion against the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. The opera was a huge success and is considered one of the most important works of Croatian music.
