Role:EnsemblePeriod:RomanticGenre:ChamberTrio di Trieste is a classical music ensemble that was formed in 1959 in Trieste, Italy. The trio consists of pianist Dario De Rosa, violinist Renato Zanettovich, and cellist Libero Lana. The group has been praised for their technical skill and emotional depth, and they have become one of the most respected chamber music ensembles in the world. The members of Trio di Trieste all had successful solo careers before coming together to form the ensemble. Dario De Rosa had studied with renowned pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, and had won several international piano competitions. Renato Zanettovich had studied with violinist Yehudi Menuhin, and had performed with many of the world's leading orchestras. Libero Lana had studied with cellist Enrico Mainardi, and had performed as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic. The trio's first major performance was in 1959 at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. They quickly gained a reputation for their passionate and expressive performances, and were soon invited to perform at major concert halls throughout Europe and the United States. In 1960, they made their debut at the Salzburg Festival, and in 1961 they performed at the Edinburgh Festival. One of the highlights of Trio di Trieste's career was their performance at the White House in 1963, where they played for President John F. Kennedy and his guests. The trio also performed for other world leaders, including Queen Elizabeth II of England and Pope John XXIII. Trio di Trieste has recorded extensively throughout their career, and their recordings have received critical acclaim. They have recorded the complete piano trios of Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms, as well as works by Mozart, Haydn, and Mendelssohn. Their recording of the Beethoven piano trios won the Grand Prix du Disque in 1964. In addition to their performances and recordings, Trio di Trieste has also been dedicated to teaching and mentoring young musicians. They have held masterclasses and workshops throughout Europe and the United States, and have been instrumental in the development of many young chamber music ensembles. Trio di Trieste has received numerous awards and honors throughout their career. In 1970, they were awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is given by the Italian Association of Music Critics to the best performers of the year. They were also awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 1986. Despite the passing of two of its original members, Trio di Trieste continues to perform and record today. The ensemble has undergone several personnel changes over the years, but their commitment to excellence and their passion for chamber music remains unchanged. They continue to inspire audiences and young musicians around the world with their performances and their dedication to the art of chamber music.More....
