Jerry Livingston was an American composer and songwriter who was born on March 25, 1909, in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants and grew up in a musical family. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Livingston started playing the piano at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. Livingston attended the University of Arizona, where he studied music and played in the school's orchestra. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He started working as a pianist and arranger for various bands and orchestras, including the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. In the 1930s, Livingston began writing songs for Broadway musicals. He collaborated with lyricist Mack David on several successful shows, including "Two for the Show" and "Texas, Li'l Darlin'." Livingston and David also wrote the hit song "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" for the Disney film "Cinderella." In the 1940s, Livingston started working in Hollywood, writing songs for films. He wrote the music for several popular movies, including "The Fleet's In" and "The Jolson Story." He also wrote the theme song for the television show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." One of Livingston's most famous compositions is the song "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)." He wrote the song with lyricist Jay Livingston (no relation) for the Alfred Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much." The song became a huge hit and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1956. It has since become a classic and has been covered by many artists.
