Born on May 5, 1985, in Helsinki, Finland, Haapamäki grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a violinist, so it was only natural that she would develop an interest in music at a young age. Haapamäki began playing the cello when she was just six years old. She showed a natural talent for the instrument and quickly progressed in her studies.
