Thorvald Aagaard was a Danish composer who lived from 1877 to 1937. He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist and his mother was a pianist, so it was natural for him to be exposed to music from a young age. Aagaard began playing the piano at the age of six and later learned to play the violin and the organ. Aagaard studied music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he was a student of the composer Niels Gade. One of Aagaard's most famous works is his choral piece "Den danske sang er en ung, blond pige" ("The Danish Song is a Young, Blonde Girl").
