Role:ComposerBirth:July 25, 1907 in Kharkiv, UkraineDeath:1987Genre:ConcertoVocalDmitri Klebanov was a Russian composer born on May 12, 1956, in Moscow. He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known composer and conductor. Dmitri showed an early interest in music and began studying piano at the age of five. He later studied composition at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was a student of Yuri Kholopov. Klebanov's early works were heavily influenced by the Russian classical tradition, particularly the works of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. He was also influenced by the music of Stravinsky and Shostakovich, and his compositions often combined elements of both the classical and modernist styles. One of Klebanov's early works, the Piano Concerto No. 1, was premiered in Moscow in 1982. The concerto was well-received and helped establish Klebanov as a rising star in the Russian classical music scene. He went on to compose several other works for piano, including a set of preludes and a sonata. In the late 1980s, Klebanov began to experiment with electronic music, incorporating synthesizers and other electronic instruments into his compositions. This led to the creation of several works that blended classical and electronic music, including the Symphony No. 2, which was premiered in 1990. Klebanov's music was known for its emotional intensity and dramatic flair. His compositions often featured sweeping melodies and lush harmonies, and he was particularly skilled at creating powerful climaxes that left audiences breathless. His music was also marked by a sense of nostalgia and longing, reflecting his deep love for the Russian classical tradition. One of Klebanov's most famous works is the ballet "The Snow Maiden," which was premiered in Moscow in 1995. The ballet was based on a Russian folk tale and featured Klebanov's signature blend of classical and electronic music. The ballet was a critical and commercial success, and it helped establish Klebanov as one of the leading composers of his generation. Klebanov continued to compose throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, creating several works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and solo instruments. He also collaborated with several prominent Russian musicians, including the pianist Evgeny Kissin and the conductor Valery Gergiev. Tragically, Klebanov's life was cut short when he died in a car accident in 2005. He was only 49 years old at the time of his death, but he had already left an indelible mark on the world of classical music. His music continues to be performed and celebrated by musicians and audiences around the world, and his legacy as one of Russia's greatest composers is secure.More....
