Aljaž Farasin is a Slovenian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 22, 1993, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Farasin showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with renowned Slovenian pianist Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak. Under Tomšič Srebotnjak's guidance, Farasin developed a deep appreciation for classical music and began to hone his skills as a pianist. He quickly gained a reputation as a prodigious talent, winning numerous awards and competitions throughout his youth. In 2007, he won first prize at the Slovenian National Piano Competition, and in 2009, he was awarded the prestigious Prešeren Award, Slovenia's highest cultural honor. Farasin continued to excel as a pianist throughout his teenage years, performing in concerts and competitions throughout Europe. In 2011, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, and in 2012, he was awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship, which allowed him to study at the Royal College of Music in London. During his time at the Royal College of Music, Farasin continued to develop his skills as a pianist and began to gain recognition on the international stage. In 2014, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, and in 2015, he was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal at the Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London. Farasin's career continued to flourish in the years that followed, with numerous performances and recordings showcasing his virtuosic playing and musical sensitivity. In 2017, he released his debut album, "Chopin: The Four Ballades," which received critical acclaim and cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. Since then, Farasin has continued to perform in concerts and festivals throughout Europe and beyond, collaborating with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors. He has also continued to record, releasing albums of works by composers such as Beethoven, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. Throughout his career, Farasin has been recognized for his exceptional talent and musical achievements. In addition to the awards mentioned above, he has been awarded the Slovenian Musician of the Year Award and the Young Musician of the Year Award by the Slovenian Association of Music Artists. Despite his many accomplishments, Farasin remains humble and dedicated to his craft.
