Ambassade Orchester Wien is a classical music ensemble based in Vienna, Austria. The ensemble was founded in 1999 by conductor and pianist Wolfgang Harrer, with the aim of bringing together talented musicians from around the world to perform classical music at the highest level. The ensemble's main members are a group of highly skilled musicians, many of whom have studied at some of the world's most prestigious music schools, including the Vienna Conservatory, the Juilliard School in New York, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. The ensemble's members come from a variety of countries, including Austria, Germany, the United States, and Japan. Since its founding, Ambassade Orchester Wien has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York. The ensemble has also performed at numerous festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. One of the highlights of Ambassade Orchester Wien's career was its performance at the 2005 Salzburg Festival, where the ensemble performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under the baton of conductor Riccardo Muti. The performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading classical music ensembles in Europe. In addition to its performances, Ambassade Orchester Wien has also received numerous awards and accolades for its recordings.
