In 1981, Pladevall won the National Prize for Young Composers, which allowed him to study in Paris with the composer and conductor Pierre Boulez. This experience had a significant impact on Pladevall's musical style, as he was exposed to the avant-garde techniques of the time. Pladevall's music is characterized by its complexity and experimentation with different musical forms and structures. He was particularly interested in exploring the possibilities of electronic music and incorporating it into his compositions. One of Pladevall's most significant works is his opera "El Jardí de les Delícies" (The Garden of Delights), which premiered in 1991.
