Julio Hernández was born on May 15, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned classical guitarist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Hernández showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of five. As he grew older, Hernández's passion for music continued to grow, and he began to explore other instruments, including the guitar and the violin. He also began to study music theory and composition, and by the age of 15, he had already composed several pieces of music. In 2003, Hernández was accepted into the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, where he studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Ana Gabriela Fernández. During his time at the conservatory, Hernández also studied composition and music theory, and he began to perform in public concerts and recitals. After graduating from the conservatory in 2007, Hernández continued his studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he earned a degree in musicology. During this time, he also continued to perform in concerts and recitals, both as a soloist and as part of chamber ensembles. In 2010, Hernández was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Christopher Elton. During his time at the academy, Hernández also had the opportunity to perform in some of London's most prestigious concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. After completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in 2012, Hernández returned to Mexico, where he began to establish himself as one of the country's most promising young pianists. He began to perform regularly in concerts and recitals, both as a soloist and as part of chamber ensembles, and he quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his sensitive interpretations of classical music. In 2014, Hernández was awarded the prestigious National Prize for Arts and Sciences in the category of Music and Performing Arts, becoming one of the youngest musicians ever to receive this honor. The award recognized Hernández's outstanding contributions to the field of classical music, as well as his commitment to promoting the arts in Mexico and around the world. Since receiving the National Prize for Arts and Sciences, Hernández has continued to perform in concerts and recitals around the world, including in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has also recorded several albums of classical music, including works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. In addition to his work as a performer, Hernández is also a dedicated teacher and mentor, and he has worked with young musicians in Mexico and around the world to help them develop their skills and pursue their dreams. He is also a passionate advocate for the arts, and he has worked to promote the importance of music and culture in society.
