Benjamin Marks was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Marks showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Marks began his formal music education at the age of six, when he started taking piano lessons. He quickly progressed and began performing in public at the age of eight. At the age of ten, he started studying the violin, and by the age of twelve, he had already won several local competitions. In 1998, Marks was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he studied with renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. During his time at Juilliard, Marks continued to win competitions and perform in public. In 2003, he graduated from the Pre-College Division with honors. After graduating from Juilliard, Marks attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied with violinist Aaron Rosand. After graduating from Curtis, Marks began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile performer, and he was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, Marks won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a solo career. The grant provided Marks with financial support and helped to raise his profile in the classical music world. In 2012, Marks released his debut album, which featured works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish Marks as a rising star in the classical music world.
