Stuart attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Peter Evans. During his time at the academy, Stuart honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. He graduated with honors in 1972 and went on to pursue a career in music. Stuart's career as a classical music artist began in the early 1970s when he started performing in various concerts and recitals across Scotland. His exceptional talent and passion for music soon caught the attention of music critics and audiences alike. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. In 1975, Stuart made his debut performance at the Edinburgh International Festival, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14. Over the years, Stuart performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.
