Born in Adelaide, Australia, in 1973, Dollman showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He later went on to study at the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. After completing his studies, Dollman began his career as a professional musician, performing with various orchestras and ensembles in Australia and around the world. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician, and his skills as a conductor soon caught the attention of the music industry. In 2001, Dollman was appointed as the Principal Conductor of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for six years.
