Choral Arts Initiative is a classical music ensemble based in Orange County, California. The group was founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Brandon Elliott, who sought to create a professional-level choral ensemble that would push the boundaries of traditional choral music. The ensemble's first performance was in December 2013, and since then, they have become one of the most respected choral groups in Southern California. The group is made up of 32 singers, all of whom are highly trained and experienced musicians. Choral Arts Initiative has performed a wide range of repertoire, from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works. They have collaborated with a number of composers, including Jake Runestad, Dale Trumbore, and Jocelyn Hagen, and have premiered several new works. One of the highlights of Choral Arts Initiative's career was their performance at the 2016 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division Conference. The group was selected to perform as one of only six choirs from the western United States, and their performance was highly praised by the audience and critics alike. In addition to their performance at the ACDA conference, Choral Arts Initiative has also performed at a number of other prestigious venues, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. The group has also received numerous awards and accolades. In 2015, they were named the "Outstanding Arts Organization" by Arts Orange County, and in 2016, they were awarded the "Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming." Choral Arts Initiative is committed to community outreach and education. They regularly perform at local schools and community centers, and they offer workshops and masterclasses for aspiring choral singers.
