The Rossini Orchestra & Chorus is a classical music ensemble that has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years. Founded in 1989 by conductor and pianist Roberto Polastri, the ensemble has become known for its exceptional performances of classical music, particularly the works of Gioachino Rossini. The ensemble is based in Pesaro, Italy, the birthplace of Rossini, and takes its name from the famous composer. The Rossini Orchestra & Chorus is made up of a group of talented musicians and singers who are dedicated to preserving and promoting the works of Rossini and other classical composers. Roberto Polastri, the founder and conductor of the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus, is a highly respected musician and conductor. He has worked with some of the world's most renowned orchestras and has conducted performances in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe and the United States. Under Polastri's leadership, the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus has become known for its exceptional performances of Rossini's operas and other classical works. The ensemble has performed in some of the most famous opera houses in Italy, including La Scala in Milan and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. One of the highlights of the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus's career was their performance of Rossini's "Stabat Mater" at the Vatican in 1990. The performance was attended by Pope John Paul II and was broadcast live on television throughout Italy. The ensemble received widespread acclaim for their performance, which was described as "sublime" and "moving." In addition to their performances of Rossini's works, the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus has also performed works by other classical composers, including Mozart, Beethoven, and Verdi. In 2002, the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus was invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. The ensemble's performance of Rossini's "Petite Messe Solennelle" was met with critical acclaim and was described as "a triumph." In addition to their performances, the Rossini Orchestra & Chorus is also committed to music education and outreach. The ensemble regularly holds workshops and masterclasses for young musicians and has collaborated with local schools and community organizations to promote classical music.
