The University of Texas at Austin Trombone Choir is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its unique sound and exceptional performances for over 40 years. Founded in 1973 by Dr. Wayne Barrington, the ensemble has become one of the most renowned trombone choirs in the world. The ensemble is made up of undergraduate and graduate students from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. The choir typically consists of 12 to 16 trombonists, including bass, tenor, and alto trombones, as well as a tuba player. The ensemble is led by Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, who has been the director of the choir since 2013. The University of Texas at Austin Trombone Choir has performed at numerous prestigious venues and events, including the International Trombone Festival, the American Trombone Workshop, and the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. The ensemble has also been featured on several recordings, including "Trombone Czar: The Music of Alexey Lebedev" and "The University of Texas Trombone Choir Live in Concert." One of the highlights of the ensemble's history was its performance at the 2015 International Trombone Festival in Valencia, Spain.
