Quartetto Avos is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Italy. The group consists of four members: violinists Marco Rizzi and Alberto Bologni, violist Simone Gramaglia, and cellist Giovanni Scaglione. The ensemble has gained recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music. The founding members of Quartetto Avos met while studying at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a quartet. The group's name, Avos, is derived from the Hebrew word for "ancestors," reflecting their respect for the classical music tradition. Quartetto Avos has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. They have also performed at numerous festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. One of the highlights of Quartetto Avos' career was their performance at the 2015 BBC Proms in London. The group performed Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, to critical acclaim. The Guardian praised their "intense and focused" performance, while The Telegraph called it "a revelation." In addition to their live performances, Quartetto Avos has also released several recordings. Their debut album, released in 2014, featured works by Beethoven and Schubert. Their second album, released in 2017, featured works by Shostakovich and Weinberg. Both albums received critical acclaim and were praised for the group's technical skill and emotional depth. Quartetto Avos has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2013, they won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. They were also awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2014, which provides financial support and career guidance to exceptional young musicians. In addition to their performances and recordings, Quartetto Avos is also committed to music education. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians in Italy and abroad, and have served as artists-in-residence at several universities. Overall, Quartetto Avos is a dynamic and talented ensemble that has made a significant impact on the classical music world. Their unique sound and interpretation of classical music have earned them critical acclaim and a devoted following. As they continue to perform and record, it is clear that Quartetto Avos will remain a force to be reckoned with in the world of classical music.More....
