Role:Composer PerformerBirth:May 2, 1934Death:2004Period:ContemporaryGenre:ChoralOlle Adolphson was a Swedish composer, singer, and songwriter who was born on May 2, 1934, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of a composer and a pianist, and his parents encouraged him to pursue music from a young age. Adolphson began playing the piano at the age of six and later learned to play the guitar and the accordion. Adolphson's musical career began in the 1950s when he started performing in cafes and clubs in Stockholm. He quickly gained a following for his unique style of music, which blended elements of jazz, folk, and pop. In 1956, he released his first album, "Olle Adolphson sjunger egna visor," which featured his own compositions. Throughout the 1960s, Adolphson continued to release albums and perform throughout Sweden. He became known for his poetic lyrics and his ability to capture the essence of Swedish life in his music. Some of his most popular songs from this period include "Trubbel," "En glad calypso om våren," and "Nu har jag fått den jag vill ha." In the 1970s, Adolphson's music took on a more political tone as he became involved in the anti-Vietnam War movement. He released several albums that addressed social and political issues, including "Fyra visor om frihet" and "Sånger om kvinnor och män." Despite the serious subject matter of these albums, Adolphson's music remained popular with audiences in Sweden and beyond. In the 1980s, Adolphson continued to release albums and perform, but he also began to focus more on his work as a composer. He wrote music for several films and television shows, including the popular Swedish TV series "Rederiet." He also composed several classical works, including a symphony and a string quartet. Adolphson's music continued to be popular in Sweden throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. He received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to Swedish music, including the prestigious Cornelis Vreeswijk-stipendiet in 2003. He also continued to perform live, often accompanied by his son, guitarist Charlie Adolphson. Olle Adolphson passed away on March 10, 2004, at the age of 69. He left behind a legacy of music that continues to be celebrated in Sweden and around the world. His unique blend of jazz, folk, and pop, combined with his poetic lyrics and his ability to capture the essence of Swedish life, make him one of the most beloved composers in Swedish music history.More....
