Eddie Hessian was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Hessian showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Hessian began his formal music education at the age of six, studying the violin under the tutelage of his mother. He quickly progressed and was soon performing in local concerts and recitals. At the age of ten, Hessian made his debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, performing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3. Hessian continued to excel in his studies and performances, and at the age of 16, he was accepted into the Juilliard School of Music. There, he studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. Hessian's talent and dedication were evident, and he quickly became one of the top students in his class. After graduating from Juilliard, Hessian began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his ability to connect with audiences. Hessian's performances were marked by his technical precision, his emotional depth, and his ability to bring out the nuances of the music. One of Hessian's most memorable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2008. He performed Brahms' Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The New York Times praised Hessian's performance, calling it "a triumph of technical skill and emotional depth." Hessian's career continued to flourish, and he performed with some of the world's top orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Muti. In addition to his solo performances, Hessian was also an active chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Hessian Quartet, which quickly gained a reputation for its innovative programming and its ability to bring new life to classic works. The quartet performed at some of the world's top venues, including the Wigmore Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Hessian's talent and dedication were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He was a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, and the Gilmore Artist Award. He was also a member of the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Tragically, Hessian's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. Despite his illness, Hessian continued to perform and record, inspiring audiences with his courage and determination. He passed away on June 15, 2017, at the age of 32. Hessian's legacy lives on through his recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to hear him perform.
