He then went on to earn his Master's degree from the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Mark Gould. Encabo's career as a professional musician began while he was still a student at Juilliard. He was invited to perform with the New York Philharmonic as a substitute trumpet player, and he quickly made a name for himself as a talented and versatile musician. He went on to perform with many other orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Encabo's solo career also took off during this time. He performed recitals and concertos all over the world, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting young trumpet players of his generation. He won several prestigious awards, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition. One of the highlights of Encabo's career was his performance of the Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the New York Philharmonic.
