Jennifer Kloetzel is a renowned cellist and chamber musician who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in San Francisco, California, Kloetzel began playing the cello at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in cello performance. Kloetzel's career as a professional musician began in earnest when she joined the Cypress String Quartet in 1999. The quartet quickly gained a reputation for their dynamic performances and innovative programming, and went on to win numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2003. Over the course of their 20-year career, the Cypress String Quartet performed in major concert halls around the world, recorded over 15 albums, and collaborated with some of the most celebrated musicians of our time. In addition to her work with the Cypress String Quartet, Kloetzel has also established herself as a soloist and chamber musician in her own right. She has performed with orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, and has been a featured artist at festivals such as the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer Festival. Kloetzel is also a founding member of the Trio Solisti, a piano trio that has been praised for their "musical fire" and "technical brilliance." Throughout her career, Kloetzel has been recognized for her exceptional musicianship and dedication to the arts. In addition to the Avery Fisher Career Grant, she has received awards and honors from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts, Chamber Music America, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has also been a passionate advocate for music education, and has worked with organizations such as the Young Musicians Program at UC Berkeley and the San Francisco Symphony's Adventures in Music program to bring music education to underserved communities. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kloetzel has continued to inspire audiences with her music. In 2020, she released a solo album titled "Dance and Dream," which features works by Bach, Britten, and Cassadó. She has also been involved in a number of virtual performances and collaborations, including a series of online concerts with the Trio Solisti.
