Tämmel Quartet is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Tallinn, Estonia. The quartet consists of four members: Mari-Liis Päkk (violin), Leho Karin (violin), Johanna Vahermägi (viola), and Andreas Lend (cello). The quartet's founding members, Päkk and Karin, met while studying at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. They were later joined by Vahermägi and Lend, who were also studying at the academy at the time. The quartet's name, Tämmel, is derived from the Estonian word for "hammer," which is a nod to the quartet's energetic and dynamic performances. Since its founding, Tämmel Quartet has become one of Estonia's most prominent classical music ensembles. The quartet has performed extensively throughout Estonia and has also toured internationally, performing in countries such as Germany, Finland, and the United States. One of the quartet's most notable performances was at the 2015 Pärnu Music Festival, where they performed Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131.
