Stefania Moldovan is a Romanian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and conductor. Born on May 5, 1985, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Moldovan showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Moldovan's early musical education was at the Sigismund Toduta Music School in Cluj-Napoca, where she studied piano with Professor Maria Szeles. She continued her studies at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. She then went on to earn a Master's degree in Piano Performance from the same institution. During her studies, Moldovan participated in numerous competitions and won several awards. In 2004, she won first prize at the National Piano Competition in Cluj-Napoca. In 2006, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Sinaia, Romania. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. These awards helped to establish Moldovan as a rising star in the classical music world. After completing her studies, Moldovan began performing as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe. She has performed in prestigious venues such as the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. She has also performed with orchestras such as the Cluj-Napoca Philharmonic Orchestra, the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. In addition to her work as a pianist, Moldovan has also established herself as a conductor. She has conducted orchestras such as the Cluj-Napoca Philharmonic Orchestra, the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. In 2015, she founded the Moldovan Chamber Orchestra, which she currently conducts. Moldovan's repertoire as a pianist and conductor is diverse, ranging from classical to contemporary music. She has a particular affinity for the music of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, and has performed their works extensively. She has also premiered works by contemporary composers such as Dan Dediu and Adrian Pop. Moldovan's performances have been praised for their technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth. She has been described as a "sensitive and intelligent musician" who "brings a fresh perspective to familiar works." Her performances have been broadcast on radio and television in Romania and Austria. In addition to her performing and conducting career, Moldovan is also a dedicated music educator. In 2017, she was awarded the "Cultural Merit" medal by the Romanian President. Despite her many accomplishments, Moldovan remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform, conduct, and teach, always striving to improve and grow as a musician.
