He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he studied composition with Samuel Adler. Williams then pursued graduate studies at the Yale School of Music, where he earned a Master of Music degree in composition. After completing his studies, Williams began his career as a composer and conductor. He has composed works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir, and solo instruments. His compositions have been performed by major orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
