Larry Grossman was an American composer and pianist who was born on May 1, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in a musical family, with his father being a violinist and his mother a pianist. Grossman began playing the piano at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he studied composition and piano. After completing his studies, Grossman moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He began working as a pianist and composer for various theater productions, including the off-Broadway show "The Fantasticks." This show would become one of the longest-running musicals in history, and Grossman's music for the show would become some of his most well-known work. Grossman continued to work in the theater throughout his career, composing music for numerous productions on and off Broadway. He also wrote music for television and film, including the theme song for the popular children's show "The Electric Company." One of Grossman's most notable works is his musical adaptation of the classic children's book "Snoopy!!! The Musical." The show premiered in 1975 and was a hit with audiences and critics alike. Grossman's music for the show was praised for its catchy melodies and clever lyrics. In addition to his work in the theater, Grossman also composed classical music. His compositions include works for solo piano, chamber music, and orchestral pieces. His music is known for its melodic and lyrical qualities, as well as its use of traditional forms and structures.
