Christopher Atzinger is a highly acclaimed classical pianist and professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Born in 1979 in the United States, Atzinger began playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He went on to study at the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with high honors. He then continued his studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Master of Music degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance. Throughout his career, Atzinger has been recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication to the art of classical piano. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious William Kapell International Piano Competition, the San Antonio International Piano Competition, and the Wideman International Piano Competition. He has also been a finalist in the Naumburg International Piano Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Atzinger has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad, including in Europe, Asia, and South America. He has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. He has also performed in many of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his performing career, Atzinger is also a highly respected educator. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire since 2006, where he is currently a professor of music and the director of the Keyboard Area. He has also taught at the University of Michigan, the University of Texas at Austin, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Atzinger is known for his passionate and expressive performances, as well as his deep understanding of the music he plays. He has a particular affinity for the music of Franz Schubert, and has recorded several albums of Schubert's piano music, including the complete sonatas and impromptus.
