Isaiah Robinson was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Robinson showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Robinson's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking lessons with renowned violinists in New York City, and by the age of ten, he had already won several local competitions. In 1997, Robinson was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he studied with Dorothy DeLay, one of the most influential violin teachers of the 20th century. Under DeLay's guidance, Robinson's technique and musicality flourished, and he quickly became one of the top young violinists in the country. In 2003, Robinson graduated from the Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Music degree. He then went on to study with Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program, where he received a full scholarship. During his time at the program, Robinson had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with some of the world's most renowned violinists, including Pinchas Zukerman and Midori. After completing his studies, Robinson began performing professionally, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting young violinists on the scene. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2006, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto to critical acclaim. Over the next few years, Robinson continued to perform with some of the world's top orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He also began to make a name for himself as a soloist, performing recitals in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. In 2010, Robinson was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. The award recognized Robinson's exceptional talent and his potential to become one of the leading violinists of his generation. In the years that followed, Robinson continued to perform and record extensively. He released several critically acclaimed albums, including a recording of the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, which was praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. In addition to his work as a performer, Robinson was also a dedicated teacher. He taught at the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division and was a frequent guest lecturer at music schools and conservatories around the world. Tragically, Robinson's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2016. Despite undergoing extensive treatment, Robinson passed away on June 15, 2018, at the age of 33. In the years since his passing, Robinson's legacy has continued to inspire and influence young musicians around the world. His recordings and performances remain a testament to his exceptional talent and his unwavering dedication to the art of classical music.
