Role:EnsembleDolce & Tempesta is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique blend of Baroque and contemporary music since their founding in 2008. The ensemble is made up of four main members: violinist and artistic director Agata Daraskaite, cellist and co-artistic director Dariusz Skoraczewski, harpsichordist and organist Mark Cudek, and percussionist and drummer Mike DeMicco. The ensemble was founded by Daraskaite and Skoraczewski, who met while studying at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. They were both drawn to the idea of creating an ensemble that would explore the intersection of Baroque and contemporary music, and they began collaborating on projects together. They soon realized that they needed a harpsichordist to complete their sound, and they were fortunate to meet Cudek, who was already an established performer in the early music scene. DeMicco, a renowned jazz and world music percussionist, was later added to the ensemble to add a modern twist to their sound. Dolce & Tempesta quickly gained a reputation for their innovative programming and dynamic performances. They have performed at major venues and festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Boston Early Music Festival, and the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, Netherlands. They have also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut, singer-songwriter Aoife O'Donovan, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Dolce & Tempesta's career was their performance at the 2012 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C. The festival, which celebrates cultural heritage and diversity, featured the ensemble as part of a program on the music of the Chesapeake Bay region. Dolce & Tempesta's performance, which included traditional Baroque music as well as original compositions inspired by the region's history and culture, was a hit with audiences and critics alike. In addition to their live performances, Dolce & Tempesta has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Baroque Fusion," was released in 2010 and featured a mix of Baroque and jazz-inspired compositions. Their second album, "Chesapeake," was released in 2013 and was inspired by the history and culture of the Chesapeake Bay region. The album featured original compositions by the ensemble as well as traditional Baroque music. Dolce & Tempesta has received numerous awards and accolades for their work. In 2011, they were awarded the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grant, which allowed them to collaborate with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on a series of concerts and educational programs. They were also named the 2012-2013 Ensemble-in-Residence at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, where they worked with students and faculty to explore the intersection of Baroque and contemporary music. Overall, Dolce & Tempesta has established themselves as one of the most innovative and exciting ensembles in the classical music world. Their unique blend of Baroque and contemporary music, combined with their dynamic performances and innovative programming, has earned them a devoted following and critical acclaim. As they continue to explore new musical territory and collaborate with a wide range of artists, it is clear that Dolce & Tempesta will remain at the forefront of the classical music scene for years to come.More....
