Orchestra Classica di Alessandria is a classical music ensemble based in Alessandria, Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1984 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to create a professional ensemble that could perform at the highest level. The founding members of the orchestra were all graduates of the Conservatory of Alessandria, and they quickly established a reputation for excellence in their performances. The orchestra's first conductor was Carlo Felice Cillario, a renowned Italian conductor who had previously worked with the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Under Cillario's leadership, Orchestra Classica di Alessandria quickly gained recognition for its high-quality performances and innovative programming. The orchestra's repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers in classical music, including Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Over the years, the orchestra has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Italy and around the world. Some of the highlights of the orchestra's performances include a concert at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II, a performance at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and a tour of Japan. The orchestra has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned soloists, including pianist Martha Argerich, violinist Salvatore Accardo, and cellist Mischa Maisky. These collaborations have resulted in some of the orchestra's most memorable performances, including a recording of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with Argerich, Accardo, and Maisky. In addition to its performances, Orchestra Classica di Alessandria is also committed to promoting classical music education and outreach. The orchestra regularly holds workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and it has also established a youth orchestra to provide opportunities for young musicians to perform and develop their skills. Over the years, Orchestra Classica di Alessandria has received numerous awards and accolades for its performances and contributions to classical music. In 1999, the orchestra was awarded the prestigious Abbiati Prize, which is considered one of the highest honors in Italian classical music. The orchestra has also been recognized by the Italian government for its contributions to cultural heritage. Today, Orchestra Classica di Alessandria continues to be one of the leading classical music ensembles in Italy and around the world. The orchestra's commitment to excellence in performance and education ensures that it will continue to inspire and delight audiences for years to come.More....
