He studied at the Tchaikovsky Music School in Yerevan, where he received a solid foundation in music theory and composition. He also studied piano performance at the Yerevan State Conservatory, where he was mentored by renowned pianist and composer Alexander Harutyunyan. In 2008, Avanesov moved to Germany to continue his musical education. He enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, where he studied composition with Peter Michael Hamel and Georg Hajdu. During his time in Hamburg, Avanesov also had the opportunity to work with renowned composers such as Helmut Lachenmann and Wolfgang Rihm. Avanesov's music is characterized by a unique blend of Armenian folk music and contemporary classical music. His compositions often feature intricate rhythms, unconventional harmonies, and a wide range of instrumental textures. He draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including literature, visual art, and nature. One of Avanesov's most notable works is his piano concerto, "The Voice of the Tree." The piece was commissioned by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and premiered in Yerevan in 2015. The concerto is inspired by the Armenian legend of the "Tree of Life," which is said to have the power to grant wishes. The piece features a solo piano part that is both virtuosic and lyrical, as well as a lush orchestral accompaniment. Another notable work by Avanesov is his string quartet, "The Colors of Silence."
