Duo Leonore is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2013 by violinist Benjamin Baker and pianist Diana Ambache. Benjamin Baker was born in New Zealand and began playing the violin at the age of four. He went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England and the Royal College of Music, where he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Scholarship. Diana Ambache, on the other hand, was born in London and began playing the piano at the age of five. She studied at the Royal College of Music and later at the Juilliard School in New York. The two musicians first met in 2012, when they were both performing at the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove, Cornwall. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a duo. They named themselves Duo Leonore after Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, which was originally titled Leonore.
