Born on May 5, 1985, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Novsak showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with some of the best teachers in Slovenia. As a young musician, Novsak participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning several awards and accolades along the way. In 2003, he won first prize at the Slovenian National Piano Competition, and in 2005, he was awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. These early successes helped to establish Novsak as a rising star in the world of classical music. After completing his studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, Novsak continued his education at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with renowned pianist and teacher Dmitri Alexeev. During his time in London, Novsak had the opportunity to perform in some of the city's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and the Wigmore Hall. In 2010, Novsak made his debut as a conductor, leading the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. This marked the beginning of a new phase in his career, as he began to focus more on conducting and composing in addition to his work as a pianist. Over the years, Novsak has collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has also worked with many of the most talented soloists of his generation, including violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. One of Novsak's most notable performances came in 2014, when he conducted the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of his own composition, "Symphony No. 1." The piece was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and helped to establish Novsak as a composer of note. In addition to his work as a performer and composer, Novsak is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses and workshops around the world, and has served as a professor of piano and conducting at the Ljubljana Academy of Music since 2015. Throughout his career, Novsak has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the world of classical music. In 2012, he was awarded the Prešeren Fund Prize, one of the highest honors in Slovenia's cultural sphere. He has also been recognized by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts for his achievements in music. Despite his many accomplishments, Novsak remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to push himself to new heights as a performer, composer, and teacher, and is widely regarded as one of the most talented and versatile musicians of his generation.More....
