Stockholm Chamber Duo is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2007 by two Swedish musicians, pianist Per Tengstrand and violinist Cecilia Zilliacus. The duo has gained international recognition for their dynamic and expressive performances, which showcase their technical virtuosity and deep musical understanding. Per Tengstrand was born in Sweden in 1967 and began playing the piano at the age of six. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and later at the Juilliard School in New York, where he earned his Master of Music degree. Tengstrand has won numerous awards and competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Swedish National Piano Competition. He has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Cecilia Zilliacus was born in Sweden in 1970 and began playing the violin at the age of four. She studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. Zilliacus has won several awards and competitions, including the Swedish National Violin Competition and the International Violin Competition in Cremona, Italy. She has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. The Stockholm Chamber Duo was formed when Tengstrand and Zilliacus met while studying at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and began performing together regularly. The duo's repertoire includes works by many of the great composers of the classical and romantic eras, as well as contemporary composers. One of the highlights of the Stockholm Chamber Duo's career was their performance at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm in 2010. The duo performed a piece by Swedish composer Anders Hillborg, which was commissioned for the occasion.
