He continued to release albums throughout the 1970s, experimenting with different styles and genres. In the 1980s, Scott began to focus more on composing music for film and television. He wrote the score for several movies, including "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Thin Red Line." He also composed music for several TV shows, including "The Twilight Zone" and "The Hitchhiker."
