Johannes Klüser was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Klüser showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Klüser's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of six. Klüser continued to study with his father until the age of 14, when he was accepted into the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. At the conservatory, Klüser studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Klaus Hellwig. He quickly established himself as one of the top students in his class, winning several awards and competitions. In 2005, Klüser was awarded the prestigious DAAD scholarship, which allowed him to study with renowned pianist and teacher András Schiff in Switzerland. Klüser's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the mid-2000s. He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a critical success, with critics praising Klüser's technical skill and musicality. Over the next few years, Klüser continued to perform with some of the world's top orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He also began to establish himself as a solo artist, performing recitals in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. In 2010, Klüser released his debut album, featuring works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms. The album was a critical and commercial success, earning Klüser several awards and nominations, including a Grammy nomination for Best Classical Instrumental Solo. Klüser's career continued to flourish throughout the 2010s. He performed at several major music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the BBC Proms. He also collaborated with several other musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In 2018, Klüser was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize, which recognizes outstanding achievement in classical music. The award came with a cash prize of $100,000, which Klüser donated to several music education programs. Today, Klüser is widely regarded as one of the top pianists of his generation.
