Katinka Kleijn is a renowned cellist and contemporary classical music artist. She was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1976, and grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a conductor, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Kleijn was exposed to classical music and began playing the cello at the age of six. Kleijn's talent for the cello was evident from an early age, and she quickly became a prodigy. She studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and later at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. During her studies, she won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Concertgebouw Young Talent Award. After completing her studies, Kleijn began her professional career as a cellist. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many contemporary composers, including John Adams, Steve Reich, and Philip Glass. One of Kleijn's most notable performances was her solo cello performance in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's production of John Adams' "The Dharma at Big Sur."
