Diana Galvydyte is a Lithuanian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a pianist and chamber musician. Born on May 5, 1987, in Vilnius, Lithuania, Diana showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, who were both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Diana's early musical education was at the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Rasa Biveiniene. She later went on to study at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Petras Geniusas. During her studies, Diana participated in numerous international competitions and festivals, where she won several awards and prizes. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, and in 2008, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Kaunas, Lithuania. She also won the Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Contemporary Piece at the International Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain, in 2010. After completing her studies, Diana continued to perform extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, both in Lithuania and abroad. She has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. She has also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Gidon Kremer, cellist David Geringas, and pianist Andras Schiff. One of the highlights of Diana's career was her performance at the 2011 Vilnius Piano Festival, where she played a solo recital of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Prokofiev. Her performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and she was hailed as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. In addition to her career as a performer, Diana is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught piano at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and has given masterclasses and workshops in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Germany. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with young musicians and helping them to develop their own artistic voices. Diana's repertoire is diverse and includes works by classical and contemporary composers. She is particularly interested in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries and has premiered several new works by Lithuanian composers. She is also a strong advocate for the music of her homeland and has performed many works by Lithuanian composers in her concerts. Diana's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been broadcast on radio and television stations around the world. Her debut CD, released in 2013, featured works by Chopin, Liszt, and Prokofiev and was praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Her second CD, released in 2016, featured works by Lithuanian composers and was hailed as a tribute to the rich musical heritage of her homeland. In recognition of her achievements, Diana has received numerous awards and honors. In 2012, she was awarded the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize, the highest honor bestowed by the Lithuanian government for achievements in the arts.
