Echo Du Danube is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 in Vienna, Austria. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of traditional Austrian and Hungarian folk music with classical music, creating a sound that is both familiar and innovative. The founding members of Echo Du Danube were violinist and artistic director, Veronika Schreiber, cellist, Peter Hudler, and pianist, Christoph Traxler. The trio had previously played together in various chamber music groups and decided to form their own ensemble to explore their shared passion for folk and classical music. Echo Du Danube quickly gained recognition for their dynamic performances and unique sound. They have performed in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, as well as at festivals throughout Europe and Asia. One of the highlights of Echo Du Danube's career was their performance at the 2012 Salzburg Festival, where they were praised for their "exquisite musicianship" and "captivating energy." The ensemble has also been featured on numerous radio and television programs, including ORF and BR. In addition to their live performances, Echo Du Danube has released several critically acclaimed albums. Their debut album, "Echoes of the Danube," was released in 2010 and featured a mix of traditional folk songs and classical pieces. The album received widespread praise for its innovative approach to blending different musical styles. Echo Du Danube's second album, "Brahms & Bartók," was released in 2014 and focused on the music of Johannes Brahms and Béla Bartók. The album was praised for its "impeccable technique" and "sensitive interpretation." The ensemble has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2011, they were awarded the "Outstanding Artist Award" by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture. They were also named "Artists in Residence" at the prestigious Schloss Laudon in Vienna in 2013. Echo Du Danube continues to push the boundaries of classical music and folk music, creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary. Their unique approach to blending different musical styles has earned them a dedicated following and cemented their place as one of the most innovative ensembles in classical music today.
