Willi Fugmann was a renowned classical music artist who was born on August 22, 1922, in Berlin, Germany. He was the son of a violinist and a pianist, and his parents recognized his musical talent at an early age. Fugmann began playing the piano when he was just four years old, and by the time he was six, he was already performing in public. Fugmann's family moved to Switzerland when he was a teenager, and he continued his musical education there. He studied with renowned pianists such as Edwin Fischer and Walter Gieseking, and he quickly established himself as a talented and promising young musician. In 1941, Fugmann made his debut as a soloist with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. He continued to perform and record well into his 80s, and he remained a beloved figure in the world of classical music until his death in 2011.
