Gabriele Mirabassi is a renowned Italian clarinetist and composer who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born on August 4, 1967, in Perugia, Italy, Mirabassi showed an early interest in music and began playing the clarinet at the age of nine. He was inspired by his father, who was a jazz musician, and his mother, who was a classical pianist. Mirabassi's talent was evident from a young age, and he quickly became a prodigy on the clarinet. He studied at the Conservatory of Perugia and later at the Conservatory of Pesaro, where he honed his skills and developed his unique style. He was influenced by both classical and jazz music, and he blended the two genres to create a sound that was entirely his own. In 1990, Mirabassi made his professional debut as a soloist with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese. He quickly gained recognition for his virtuosity and musicality, and he began performing at major venues and festivals around the world. He has performed with some of the most renowned orchestras and ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Orchestre National de France. Mirabassi has also collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Stefano Bollani, guitarist Enrico Rava, and saxophonist Joe Lovano. He has recorded over 20 albums as a solo artist and has been featured on numerous other recordings as a sideman. One of Mirabassi's most significant achievements was his collaboration with the Italian singer-songwriter Gianmaria Testa. The two musicians worked together on several albums, including "Extra-Muros" and "Da questa parte del mare," which were both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. Their collaboration helped to bring Mirabassi's music to a wider audience and cemented his reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting musicians of his generation. Mirabassi has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 1996, he won the prestigious "Top Jazz" award from the Italian magazine Musica Jazz, and he has been nominated for several other awards, including the Victoires du Jazz and the Django d'Or. In 2011, he was awarded the "Premio Tenco" for his contributions to Italian music. Despite his success, Mirabassi remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and record regularly, and he is always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of classical and jazz music. His music is characterized by its beauty, complexity, and emotional depth, and he has inspired countless musicians and music lovers around the world.More....
