He was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a violinist. From a young age, Rob was exposed to music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Rob's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in music lessons. He quickly excelled and began composing his own music at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, Rob had already composed several pieces for piano and had begun experimenting with orchestral arrangements. In 1968, Rob was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied composition under the tutelage of renowned composer John Williams. During his time at the academy, Rob continued to hone his skills and began to develop his own unique style. After graduating from the academy in 1972, Rob began working as a freelance composer. He quickly gained a reputation for his innovative compositions and was soon commissioned to write music for a variety of projects, including films, television shows, and stage productions. One of Rob's early successes was his score for the 1975 film "The Man Who Would Be King." The film, which starred Sean Connery and Michael Caine, was a critical and commercial success, and Rob's score was praised for its sweeping orchestral arrangements and memorable themes. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Rob continued to compose music for a variety of projects. He wrote scores for several popular television shows, including "The A-Team," "Knight Rider," and "MacGyver." He also composed music for several stage productions, including the hit musical "Les Miserables." In addition to his work in film, television, and theater, Rob also composed several pieces of classical music. One of his most famous works was his Symphony No. 1, which premiered in 1987. The symphony was praised for its complex harmonies and intricate orchestration. Another notable work by Rob was his Piano Concerto No. 2, which premiered in 1995. The concerto was written for renowned pianist Lang Lang and was praised for its virtuosic piano passages and lush orchestration. Despite his success, Rob remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to compose music until his death in 2010 at the age of 60. His legacy lives on through his music, which continues to be performed and enjoyed by audiences around the world.More....
