Okay Chorale is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 in New York City. The group is known for its unique blend of classical and contemporary music, as well as its innovative approach to performance. The founding members of Okay Chorale were all graduates of the Juilliard School of Music, and they shared a passion for classical music and a desire to create a new kind of ensemble that would appeal to a wider audience. The group's original members included soprano Sarah Johnson, mezzo-soprano Rachel Lee, tenor David Kim, and bass-baritone Michael Chen. From the beginning, Okay Chorale set out to break the mold of traditional classical music ensembles. In 2008, Okay Chorale released their debut album, "Classical Revolution," which featured a mix of classical and contemporary pieces. Over the years, Okay Chorale has undergone some changes in its membership, but the group has remained committed to its original vision of creating a new kind of classical music experience. Today, the ensemble is led by artistic director and conductor, Daniel Lee, and features a rotating cast of talented musicians and vocalists. One of the group's most memorable performances came in 2012, when they collaborated with the New York Philharmonic for a special concert at Lincoln Center. The concert, titled "Classical Music for the 21st Century," featured a mix of classical and contemporary pieces, and showcased the unique talents of both ensembles. In addition to their performances, Okay Chorale has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2010, they were named one of the "Top 10 Classical Music Innovators" by Time Out New York, and in 2013, they were awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians and ensembles.
