He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. From a young age, Teglbjaerg showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Teglbjaerg's musical education began at the Aarhus Music School, where he studied under the tutelage of his father. He later went on to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he was a student of the renowned pianist and composer Niels Gade. Teglbjaerg's talent was quickly recognized, and he was awarded several scholarships that allowed him to continue his studies in Berlin and Paris. In 1891, Teglbjaerg made his debut as a concert pianist in Copenhagen, performing works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. The performance was a great success, and Teglbjaerg quickly established himself as one of Denmark's leading pianists. He went on to perform throughout Europe, including in Germany, France, and England. One of Teglbjaerg's most significant performances was in 1895, when he performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The concert was a huge success, and Teglbjaerg was praised for his virtuosity and musicality. He went on to perform at the Royal Albert Hall several more times throughout his career. Teglbjaerg was also a prolific composer, and his works were performed by some of the leading orchestras and ensembles of his time. His compositions were influenced by the Romantic style of music, and he was particularly interested in the works of Chopin and Liszt. Some of his most famous compositions include his Piano Concerto in A minor, his Sonata for Violin and Piano, and his Symphony No. 1. In addition to his performances and compositions, Teglbjaerg was also a respected music educator. He taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Music for many years and was known for his dedication to his students. Many of his students went on to become successful musicians in their own right. Throughout his career, Teglbjaerg received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to music. In 1901, he was awarded the Order of the Dannebrog, one of Denmark's highest honors. He was also awarded the Medal of Merit by the Danish government in recognition of his contributions to music education. Teglbjaerg continued to perform and compose music until his death in 1936.
