Alexander Isles was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Isles showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Isles received his formal music education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the academy, Isles won numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize. After completing his studies, Isles began performing professionally, quickly establishing himself as one of the most talented and sought-after pianists of his generation. He made his debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 2008, receiving critical acclaim for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor. Over the years, Isles has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Isles is known for his virtuosic performances of the works of classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin. He is particularly renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which he has recorded in their entirety. In addition to his performances, Isles is also a dedicated teacher, and he has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Throughout his career, Isles has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who have the potential for major careers in classical music.
